This Week's Focus Passage

Letter From the Elders: Downstairs Seating Rotation

Dear Congregation. As you are well aware, we have been blessed over the past months with additional families worshiping with us on a regular basis each Lord's Day. For this we are truly thankful to the Lord. And, as a result, we have tasked the diaconate with starting investigation of a new facility - either existing or new built - for our church family. This process has begun but will take months, if not years, to come to fruition.

In the meantime, we are reaching capacity in our current upstairs meeting room. In order to alleviate this problem, and with a view to still being accommodating to new visitors, the elders are recommending a rotation of families to sit downstairs in the fellowship hall during the worship time. We believe that have three or four families sit together and worship is better than just one family sitting there alone - more like a small group, at least. However, please understand that we do not feel this arrangement is optimal; it is just the case that no other options seem better to us at this time.

Families who participate in the worship service will remain upstairs, as will the elders' and their wives. But we earnestly request that everyone make the best of the situation, and to enjoy the fellowship of a smaller group on the Lord's Day on which your family is to meet downstairs. The logistics have not been ironed out completely, and we know that there will be kinks - like, what if there is plenty of room upstairs, for instance. Sometimes the upstairs room is packed; sometimes it is not - there is no way of predicting how it will be on a given Sunday.

We want to firmly state that we have no intention of becoming a 'satellite church' and have no desire to rely on the video streaming. Please do not take the opportunity of your rotation downstairs to stay at home and watch online - fellowship cannot be attained on the internet.

We appreciate your consideration of this matter, and your continued prayers that the Lord would guide us to the right new facility, and to continue to add to our number both believers and those who are being saved.

For the elders,

Dr. Chuck Hartman
